JOB PURPOSE
This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of inventory management within a specific geographical area. This role involves overseeing the accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained to meet operational needs, and supporting the procurement and logistics functions. The Stores In-Charge works closely with the Stores Lead to ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of inventory and reports to the Geographical Area Head.
Responsibilities:
Stores In-Charge - O3
Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels within the assigned area to meet operational demands, ensuring that stock is available for laying/construction needs.
  • Assist in implementing inventory control procedures to maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receiving, storing, and dispatching material.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and audits, identifying discrepancies and reporting them to the Stores Lead for corrective action.
  • Support efforts to optimize inventory turnover and reduce obsolete or excess stock in alignment with regional goals.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for the timely delivery of materials, resolving any issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Procurement Coordination:
  • Collaborate with the Stores Lead and TechnoCommercial team to forecast inventory needs based on historical data and projected demand.
  • Assist in evaluating supplier performance and ensuring procurement activities align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and verify purchase orders for inventory replenishment, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and operational needs.
  • Monitor market trends and report potential risks and opportunities to the Stores Lead, helping to adjust procurement strategies as needed.
Logistics and Distribution:
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure the timely delivery of materials to support operational activities within the assigned area.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of distribution strategies to minimize transportation costs and delivery times.
  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of inventory at local sites, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Implement procedures for handling returns and replacements of defective or excess items, maintaining accurate inventory records.
Team Support and Development:
  • Provide guidance and support to the local inventory management team, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting performance evaluations for team members and providing feedback to improve productivity and performance.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for team members, working with the Stores Lead to coordinate professional development initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and communication among team members to achieve operational goals.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, turnover rates, and other key metrics for review by the Stores Lead and Geographical Area Head.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and assist in making informed decisions to support operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on inventory-related financial metrics, ensuring transparency and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all inventory activities, ensuring data integrity for internal and external audits.

Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree is preferred.
Work Experience:
1+ year of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or logistics.
Experience in managing inventory in a regional or multi-site setting is preferred.
Preferred Industry:
Experience in gas distribution, oil and energy, utilities, or related sectors with a strong focus on inventory management and supply chain operations.
