Key Responsibilities


Business and Processes



Pre-Month end and Ledger Close:

Ensure the accuracy of books and records and compliance with IFRS for Group external reporting and supporting local GAAP requirements.

Support the day-to-day controls & periodic monitoring activities, timely identification and reporting of significant risks & losses, and effectiveness of risk mitigation actions. Perform quarterly analysis of movements in balances, variance and identify business reasons.

Financial Reporting, Analytical Review and Group Reporting:

Accurate financial reporting -evidencing assertions principles and ledger close analytical review

Prepare/maintain supporting documentation for financial statements and related footnotes and maintain standard list of accounting and reporting reviews for pre-quarter close. Maintain list of business and accounting events prior to balance sheet date for support during business review of IFRS schedules Engage with Data Quality and Assurance team for data reviews and confirmation on posting journals for appropriate rectification and adjustments to ledger data. Engage with Group reporting team to ensure that reporting actions based on past-quarters' group queries have been completed and do not recur. Managing Quarterly & Annual Group queries from Group Finance, Product control, Treasury & Tax teams Engage with Group reporting team for process improvements leading to reduction of Group Queries

Substantiation and Attestation:

Ownership reviews and Balance Substantiation including risk assessment, CFO Attestation

Ensure that the periodic reconciliation & substantiation exercise across the bank is performed smoothly and escalate exception / non-compliance to the department head and Country Finance Support CFO declaration.

Control and Risk Governance:

Deliver and execute the controls as laid out in the controllership framework.

To work closely with the Country Finance and LEC team in managing the Financial Controls & Risk function. Identify and present Financial & Operational Risk to the Senior Managements (CFO, Cluster CFO & Reg. CFO etc.,) through various Risk FORUMs like FORTM, ERC, CORC, SRM etc., To ensure financial control policies and compliance monitoring measures are in place and being adhered to & to ensure a robust financial control environment in the Bank. Improve External and Internal GIA audit grades. To test and sign off existence of financial control measures when the organization launches any new product, ventures, subsidiaries and such other specific projects.

Legal Entity Controllership:

Country partnering for Local GAAP Adjustments, Local Stat Accounts including Analytical review.

Embed the Controllership + Reporting model ensuring the end client is kept at the centre of the model ensuring it serves the intended purpose efficiently and effectively. Successful implementation and sustainability of Controllership Framework for the assigned countries. Support the improvement of financial control framework using the Controllership design. Sox implementation Engage and collaborate with Country and Group teams for process, knowledge and change management. Building a strong functional and business knowledge in the teams

People & Talent



Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners. Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks. Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Risk Management



The ability to interpret the Group's financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.

Governance



Monitor and ensure that appropriate Change governance is followed across all transformation initiatives. Represent the function at the governance forums in place for tracking change initiatives and influence decisions in respect of the change backlog, prioritisation, choice of technology tools and the operating model.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Qualifications


2+ years of work experience in financial control / operational risk functions of FIs, internal audit of FIs or external audit from Big 4 firms CA / CWA preferred. Strong understanding of IFRS and Financial Control & Reporting for large global Banks. Experience of working for Finance in GCC set-up with exposure of managing functional responsibilities with end-to-end view and strong stakeholder management skills Should have strong knowledge and understanding of data management, data quality and its linkage in driving business performance management. Strong analytical, operational control management and risk assessment skills. Strong Change mindset, challenges status-quo, drive systems & technology & process Leverages interpersonal skills to influence others and skilfully build credibility with stakeholders.
