The Assistant Manager - Quality is responsible for ensuring that the quality standards in automobile manufacturing are maintained and improved. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, manufacturing processes, and final product meet or exceed quality standards. The role will involve overseeing quality control processes, audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and managing a team of quality inspectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
Ensure all production processes meet the required quality standards.
Oversee the inspection of raw materials, parts, and finished products.
Develop and implement quality control plans, processes, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Process Improvement:
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for quality issues.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and production efficiency.
Propose and implement improvements to optimize production processes and reduce defects.
Coordinate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality-related challenges.
Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise and mentor a team of quality inspectors and technicians.
Provide training on quality standards, inspection techniques, and new technologies.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback for skill development.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain detailed reports on product quality and performance.
Conduct internal audits and prepare for external quality audits.
Ensure accurate documentation of quality processes, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Customer and Supplier Interaction:
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure material and component quality.
Address customer complaints and warranty issues related to product quality.
Develop and maintain relationships with customers to understand their quality expectations.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure that all manufacturing processes adhere to ISO 9001 and other relevant industry certifications and standards.
Stay updated on industry trends and new quality regulations.
Ensure product compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualifications:
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
8-10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in the automobile manufacturing industry.
Experience with quality systems, audits, and troubleshooting production issues.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis, control plans).
Proficient in using quality inspection equipment and software (e.g., CMM, Statistical Process Control).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes in the automobile industry (e.g., stamping, welding, assembly, testing).
