Role:
The Company’s merchandise mix and assortments are constantly evolving as merchants and planners focus on what customers want to buy and respond by providing best of the products on a wider variety of name brand merchandise. Incumbent is expected to drive & maximize Sales & Profitability in the business by providing effective Merchandise Strategies. Planning & In Season management of Assortment & Inventory by Stores/Region/Product Hierarchy to achieve or exceed Strategic Business Targets viz. Top-line, Sell-Thru, Gross Margin, etc. He/she must have a keen eye to detail and decisions driven by customer needs
Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing Sales History, Customer reactions/feedback & Market Trends to monitor progress line across stores and anticipate current & future product needs
  • Providing constructive/factual feedback to Buyer for devising a Merchandise plan/Category Mix, Liquidation Strategy, etc.
  • Plan & develop merchandising strategies that balance Customer’s expectations & Company’s objectives
  • Relaying the merchandise plan to the buyer who, in turn, can decide on what products, brands, features, etc. to purchase and from which supplier
  • Allocating stocks to each outlet and monitoring the sales and future replenishments
  • Propose & execute a Logistically Cost effective stock movement with consideration of Markdowns, Promotions/Events, Price changes, Clear-outs etc.
  • Liaise with the buyer, store teams and Supply Chain team to ensure Stock availability and avoid Opportunity Loss
  • Maintain Optimum inventory level & budgeted Stock turns
  • Coordinate with suppliers/vendors to ensure on time deliveries of orders
  • Visiting stores for competition analysis

Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices
  • Analytical Skills – Number and data analysis, using spread sheets and comfortable with basic Statistics
  • Communication Skills – Good communication and interpersonal skills to build useful working relationship both with teams internally, stores and suppliers.
  • Attention to details – An eye for details is a critical skill, leading to good decision making skills
  • Computer Literacy – Understanding of MS Excel is vital as all data, trends and figure analysis will be done using spreadsheets.
  • Resilience – Need to be strong to keep calm when under pressure

Education & Experience Required:
  • PG in Retail Management/Fashion Management from a reputed business or fashion institute
  • 4-8 years of experience in similar role of Merchandising/Merchandise allocation of a similar category
  • Preferred Industries – Organized Fashion Retailers/Ecommerce companies
