Inviting applications for the role of Assistant Manager- Indirect Spend Analytics Specialist
In this role we are seeking an experienced Indirect Spend Analytics Specialist to drive impactful insights and initiatives in indirect spend management at our $20B company. This role will be instrumental in developing and maintaining a customized taxonomy, analysing spend data, and aligning sourcing strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of spend analytics, strong technical capabilities, and experience in creating and managing spend analytics frameworks. This individual should possess exceptional attention to detail to ensure consistent taxonomy logic and accurate reporting, as well as solid research skills to assess company services and categorize them appropriately
Responsibilities
Develop and Maintain Custom Taxonomy: Create and sustain a customized taxonomy for indirect spend categories to standardize data, improve spend visibility, and enable accurate spend reporting and tracking. Ensure taxonomy assignment rules are clearly defined, meticulously tracked, and consistently applied.
Spend Analysis and Reporting: Conduct detailed spend analyses across indirect sourcing categories (e.g., IT, facilities, marketing, professional services) to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Sourcing Status and Contract Readiness: Assess and update sourcing status quarterly based on contract readiness and renewal timelines.
Company and Service Research: Investigate companies and the products or services they provide to determine accurate classification within the taxonomy, ensuring spend data is accurately categorized.
Presentation Development and Departmental Collaboration: Prepare clear, focused presentations to facilitate spend discussions by department, outlining opportunities, savings, and strategic sourcing projects. Tailor insights to departmental needs to drive targeted initiatives.
Dashboard Development and Maintenance: Create and update spend analytics dashboards and quarterly reports, providing insights on category performance, supplier utilization, and compliance for sourcing category managers.
Data Collection and Process Improvement: Continuously refine data collection processes, ensuring data integrity, and collaborate with IT on any system improvements needed for enhanced analytics capabilities.
ERP and Contract Management System Utilization: Use SAP ERP for accurate data sourcing and classification, and Ariba for contract data management, ensuring alignment between spend and contract data for enhanced sourcing insights.
Ad Hoc Analysis and Recommendations: Provide data-driven recommendations and ad hoc analysis to support sourcing strategies and initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Relevant years of experience in spend analytics, sourcing analytics, or a related role with a focus on indirect spend, ideally within a large organization ($10B+ in revenue).
Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar, and ERP systems like SAP and Ariba for contract data management.
Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining custom spend taxonomies, with a clear understanding of indirect sourcing principles.
Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and consistent taxonomy logic, ensuring reliable data for analysis and reporting.
Detail-Oriented Mindset: Ability to meticulously track and enforce all taxonomy assignment rules for consistency and accuracy.
Critical Skills and Communication:
Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and present compelling, data-driven presentations to department leaders and stakeholders, focusing on spend opportunities and strategic projects.
Critical Reading Skills: Strong analytical skills for reviewing contracts and invoices, with the ability to understand sourcing agreements, contract terms, and compliance requirements to drive insights and optimize spend.
Attention to Detail: High commitment to data accuracy and consistency, with a focus on maintaining integrity across all analytics and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Advanced skills in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and spend analysis.
Experience managing quarterly updates and sourcing readiness assessments in a large, multi-category organization or sourcing consulting setting.
Excel Skills Required:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts for dynamic reporting and analysis.
VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and INDEX/MATCH for data cross-referencing.
Complex formulas (e.g., SUMIFS, COUNTIFS) for multi-criteria analysis.
Data validation, conditional formatting, and data visualization.
Ability to create and modify macros to automate repetitive tasks.
