The Assistant Manager - Payroll & Compliance will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations and statutory compliances for a large workforce. The role requires hands-on experience in handling payroll for 1000+ employees and managing compliance requirements for both Factory and Non-Factory (Industry/Corporate) establishments, ensuring adherence to all applicable labor laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management:
1. Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 1000+ employees with accuracy and timeliness.
2. Ensure correct computation of salaries, incentives, overtime, deductions, arrears, and final settlements.
3. Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll activities including TDS, Form 16, and payroll reconciliations.
4. Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external vendors for payroll inputs and validations.
5. Address employee payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies.
6. Statutory Compliance - Factory & Industry
7. Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws for Factory and Establishment, including but not limited to:
Factories Act
Shops & Establishments Act
Provident Fund (PF)
Employees' State Insurance (ESI)
Professional Tax (PT)
Labour Welfare Fund (LWF)
Bonus Act
Gratuity Act
Income Tax & TDS
8. Manage statutory filings, returns, challans, and registers within prescribed timelines.
9. Coordinate and support statutory audits, inspections, and assessments.
10. Liaise with government authorities and consultants for compliance-related matters.
11. Stay updated with changes in labor laws and ensure timely implementation.
Reporting & Controls
1. Prepare MIS reports related to payroll, statutory compliance, and headcount.
2. Maintain accurate payroll and compliance documentation and records.
3. Support internal and external audits related to payroll and statutory compliance.
4. Required Qualifications & Experience
5. 5-8 years of relevant experience in Payroll & Statutory Compliance.
6. Proven experience in handling payroll for 1000+ employees.
7. Handle inspections and interactions with government inspectors under applicable labor acts (Factories Act, PF, ESI, Shops & Establishments, etc.) and ensure timely closure of observations.
8. Strong exposure to Factory as well as Industry/Corporate compliance.
9. Sound knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory regulations.
10. Experience working with payroll systems and HRMS tools.
Education:
MBA/PGDM preferred.
