The Assistant Manager - Finance & Accounts is responsible for leading and overseeing core accounting, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and import/export finance activities.
This role ensures accurate financial data, timely MIS reports, cost monitoring, and audit readiness. The position manages AP/AR controls, supervises day-to-day finance operations, and coordinates with logistics and customs departments for trade transactions.
The role reports to the
DGM - Finance & Accounts
and supervises junior finance staff.
Key Responsibilities1. Accounting & Financial Control
Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and subsidiary ledgers.
Review AP & AR transactions and ensure timely vendor/customer reconciliations.
Monitor bank reconciliations and approve key accounting entries.
Ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.
2. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
Prepare MIS reports for management decision-making.
Maintain financial documentation for internal/external audits.
3. Statutory Compliance
Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory returns.
Coordinate internal, statutory, and tax audits.
Implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal controls.
Review statutory records for accuracy and compliance.
4. Import & Export Finance Operations
Oversee import/export documentation and financial transactions.
Handle LC documentation, BOE (Bill of Entry), duty payments, and currency conversions.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, banks, customs, and DGFT.
Ensure compliance with FEMA, customs regulations, and foreign trade policies.
Reconcile import/export invoices and track outstanding trade payments.
5. Cost Control & Operational Support
Monitor daily operating expenses, production costs, and overheads.
Support costing, pricing, and margin analysis.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
6. ERP & Process Management
Supervise accounting activities in ERP/Tally/SAP.
Implement automation and accuracy improvements.
Ensure proper data validation, approval workflows, and audit trail maintenance.
7. Team Leadership & Coordination
Guide and support junior finance team members.
Coordinate with procurement, logistics, production, and HR departments.
Support DGM in strategic financial planning and business decisions.
Required Qualifications
Education:
B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / CA Inter preferred.
Experience:
5-10 years in finance & accounts, with strong exposure to import/export operations.
