Job summary: The Contracts Engineer will be responsible for the full contract lifecycle, from tender preparation and vendor selection to post-award administration, variation management, and project closeout. This role requires a strong understanding of contract law, industry standards, and commercial practices to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual terms.
Core responsibilities:
Pre-contract and tendering
Prepare tender documentation by reviewing tender drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQ) for accuracy and completeness.
Assist in vendor pre-qualification and the evaluation of technical and commercial bids from contractors and suppliers.
Formulate contract award recommendations and to address bidder queries during the tendering phase.
Post-award contract management
Lead contract administration, ensuring all parties adhere to the terms, conditions, and technical requirements.
Issue and manage all contract-related correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Review and process progress claims, variation orders, and payment certificates in accordance with contract terms.
Variation, claim, and risk management
Draft, review, and negotiate variations and change orders arising from scope changes.
Prepare and submit claims for extension of time (EOT), delays, and additional costs when contractually entitled.
Conduct detailed risk analysis at various project stages and develop mitigation strategies.
Others
Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, for reporting and analysis.
Strong negotiation skills for dealing with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to manage risks and resolve disputes.
Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills for documentation and record-keeping.
High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
Education Qualification: B. Tech (Civil) & Preferably PG from NICMAR
Experience: 6-8 years, having working knowledge of Contract' drafting/review/management of FIDIC/Indian Contract Act/ADB/World Bank suits of contracts.
