Introduction:

  • Reconcile the On and Off Balance sheet risk data used for RWA computation against Finance data (ledger balances) with authoritative data sources to ensure completeness and accuracy. Facts to reconcile like drawn and undrawn balances, MTM, collateral and notional value per controls defined within BCBS239 principles. Reconcile treasury data used for interest rate risk compuation against Finance data (ledger balances) with authoritative data sources to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify breaks in those reconciliations and explain those breaks by securing evidences to substantiate the explanation from Finance & Risk Stakeholders.
  • Summarize and present the reconciliation output to Senior Stakeholder with a month-on-month movement analysis.
  • Monitor data feeds that contain CS01, IR01, PnL vectors required for simulating DvaR submitted to PRA on a daily basis. Monitoring includes Stakeholder interaction to resolve feed issues and manage exceptions with Market Risk Managers.
  • Identify critical data quality issues on the risk and finance data. Highlight to AVP with a mindset to strengthen the reconciliation and its control.
  • Maintain a strong operational and functional documentation of the reconciliation and ensure regular review and enhancements are made with scenarios faced month-on-month.

What will you be doing?
  • Perform the reconciliation with utmost integrity and work with Stakeholders in Risk Information Services, Treasury finance and other finance teams to produce the reconciliation output for monthly submissions. Execute non reconciliation data input controls and work with Stakeholders in RTB and BTB to provide timely inputs for Market risk mangers to make daily decisions.
  • Own the identification and development of the key data validation and its health required by risk and treasury functions by engaging with multiple upstream and downstream data providers.
  • Own the maintenance of operating procedures to define and improve the function’s processes.
  • Build subject matter expertize in the flow of data consumed in the reconciliation and also the impact of the reconciliation in downstream process.

What we’re looking for:
  • 5-6 years of work experience with a fundamental understanding of wholesale and investment banking products like loans, deposits, derivatives (forward, futures & options) and securities financing transactions (bonds, debt securities).
  • Expert level understanding of accounting principles that determine balances in the ledger across various Balance sheet headers.
  • Expert level understanding of regulatory and non-regulatory controls and its importance in financial services. Degree and relevant experience within comparable banking environment, preferably in control roles within Risk, Finance or Treasury.
  • Strong problem solving ability & analytical skills to factually decipher accounting balances impacting financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of front to back system architecture and E2E processes and controls.
  • Proactive and willing to take full ownership of deliverables. Proven ability to deal with large data sets (e.g. excel files).
  • Ability to handle time critical activities and balance priorities to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong/Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of breaks and issues.
  • Passionate about continuous improvements, and using their network of contacts to improve their personal and team performance. Identify areas for process improvement and ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Proven ability to network and build rapport and credibility quickly with a variety of key stakeholders (FO, Ops Senior Management, IT, Risk Information Services).
  • Strong analytical skills required to perform complex analysis on the volumes and process flow to identify the root cause.
  • Ability to cope with change and very tight deadlines.
