Job Title

Assistant Manager - Quality (QA/QC)

Reporting To


Quality Manager / Project Manager

Project Type


EPC Projects (Power, Infrastructure, Industrial, Water, Oil & Gas, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Planning & Systems

Assist in preparation, implementation, and maintenance of

Project Quality Plan (PQP)

. Ensure compliance with

ISO 9001

, client specifications, and contract requirements. Develop and review

Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)

and quality procedures. Coordinate internal and external quality audits.

2. Engineering & Design Quality

Review engineering drawings, technical documents, and specifications for quality compliance. Ensure proper

document control

and version management. Coordinate with engineering teams for corrective actions and improvements.

3. Procurement & Vendor Quality

Evaluate and approve vendors from a quality perspective. Review

Vendor Quality Plans (VQP)

. Conduct

vendor inspections, audits, and expediting

. Ensure material compliance with approved technical specifications.

4. Construction & Site Quality Control

Monitor site activities to ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and ITPs. Supervise inspections for civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation works. Ensure calibration of measuring and testing equipment. Coordinate with site teams for

pre-commissioning and commissioning

quality requirements.

5. Inspection & Testing

Conduct and witness inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Ensure compliance with national and international standards (IS, ASTM, ASME, IEC, etc.). Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation.

6. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions

Identify

Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)

and ensure closure. Implement

Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

. Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues.

7. Client & Third-Party Coordination

Coordinate with client representatives, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies. Participate in quality review meetings and audits. Ensure timely approvals and clearances from clients.

8. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain complete

Quality Records, Dossiers, and Data Books

. Prepare quality status reports for management. Ensure proper handover of quality documentation during project closeout.

9. Team Management & Training

Guide and supervise QA/QC engineers and inspectors. Conduct quality awareness and training programs at site. Promote a quality culture across the project.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualification

BE / BTech / Diploma in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

Experience

10-15 years of experience in EPC projects. Minimum 8-12 years in quality/QA-QC role.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of EPC project execution. Familiar with ISO 9001, QA/QC tools, and standards. Experience in audits, inspections, and commissioning.

Soft Skills

Strong communication and coordination skills. Problem-solving and analytical abilities. Client-handling experience.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

NCR reduction and timely closure. Compliance with project quality objectives. Audit performance and client satisfaction. Quality documentation completeness and accuracy.
