Job Description




Assistant Manager - Store

(EPC / Project Stores & Inventory)

Role Purpose


To manage project/site stores efficiently by ensuring timely availability of materials, proper inventory control, compliance with EPC procedures, and coordination with procurement, QA/QC, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store & Inventory Management

Manage

receipt, storage, issue, and preservation

of materials at project/site stores Maintain

minimum & maximum stock levels

as per project requirements Ensure

FIFO / FEFO

methods for material issuance Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, surplus, and scrap materials

2. Material Receipt & Inspection

Verify materials against

PO, Delivery Challan, Invoice, and Packing List

Coordinate with

QA/QC

for material inspection and release Ensure proper

tagging, identification, and storage

as per material type

3. Documentation & ERP Systems

Maintain accurate records in

ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally / EPC ERPs)

Prepare and manage: + GRN (Goods Receipt Note)
+ MIR (Material Issue Requisition)
+ SRN / MRN / Return Notes
Ensure

100% stock reconciliation

(Physical vs System)

4. Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with: +

Procurement

for shortages and follow-ups
+

Construction / Site Teams

for material planning
+

Finance

for inventory valuation and audits
Support

project material planning & forecasting


5. Logistics & Handling

Supervise

loading, unloading, stacking, and preservation

Ensure safe handling of

heavy, hazardous, or high-value materials

Monitor material movement between

warehouse site


6. Compliance & Audit

Ensure compliance with

ISO, safety, and EPC quality standards

Support

internal & external audits

Implement

loss prevention and theft control measures


7. Team Management

Supervise storekeepers, helpers, and warehouse staff Train team on

store procedures, ERP usage, and safety practices

Allocate duties and monitor performance

Typical Materials Handled (EPC Projects)

Structural steel, pipes, valves, fittings Electrical & instrumentation materials Mechanical equipment & spares Cement, chemicals, cables, consumables

Required Qualifications

Diploma / Bachelor's in

Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Commerce

5-10 years

experience in EPC / project stores Strong knowledge of

ERP & inventory systems

Inventory control & material planning ERP / SAP proficiency Documentation & audit handling Coordination & communication Leadership & team supervision

Manager - Stores / Project Manager / SCM Head
