A Store Officer in an EPC project is responsible for managing project materials, inventory, and logistics at the site or central warehouse. The role ensures proper receipt, storage, documentation, and timely issuance of materials to support uninterrupted project execution.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Material Receipt & Inspection
Receive materials, equipment, and consumables as per PO and delivery challan.
Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and Material Inspection Reports (MIR).
Check quantities, specifications, and damage before acceptance.
Ensure GRN (Goods Receipt Note) entry in ERP.
B. Storage & Handling
Store materials systematically as per material classification (electrical, mechanical, civil, consumables).
Ensure proper stacking, labeling, and safety compliance.
Maintain location-wise records for easy retrieval.
Take care of sensitive items (transformers parts, valves, cables, instruments, chemical consumables, etc.).
C. Issuance & Consumption Control
Issue materials to construction teams based on Material Requisition Slip (MRS).
Track consumption against BOQ and project budget.
Ensure returnable and non-returnable material tracking.
Maintain tools & tackles issuance and calibration records.
D. Inventory Management
Maintain minimum/maximum inventory levels to avoid shortages.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliation.
Perform cycle counting and annual physical stock verification.
Identify slow-moving, excess, and scrap materials.
E. Documentation & ERP
Update all transactions in ERP/SAP/Oracle/other systems.
Maintain:
+ Stock registers
+ Daily transaction reports
+ Material receipt and issue vouchers
+ Inspection reports
+ Vendor challans & gate passes Prepare MIS reports for management.
F. Coordination
Coordinate with Procurement, Project, QA/QC, Planning, and Accounts.
Follow up with logistics and transporters.
Support audits from internal, client, or statutory bodies.
G. Compliance & Safety
Ensure safety practices while handling heavy materials.
Follow ISO, QA/QC, and company-specific procedures.
Maintain proper housekeeping and fire safety in the store area.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of EPC project materials (cables, pipes, fittings, steel, electrical items, valves, instrumentation).
Proficiency in ERP systems.
Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
Basic knowledge of taxation (GST), LD, and delivery documentation.
Ability to manage manpower (store helpers, loaders).
Good coordination and communication skills.
Understanding of project timelines and urgency.
4. Qualifications
Education:
Diploma/Graduate (B.Com/B.A./B.Sc./Diploma Engg).
Experience:
2-10 years in EPC projects (civil/electrical/mechanical).
Preferred:
Experience in power/water/oil & gas EPC stores.
