Job Description

Uniquo is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented Experienced & freshers with a Mechanical background to join our inspection team as Assistant Inspection Engineers. The selected candidates will support quality inspection activities and ensure compliance with standard procedures under the guidance of senior engineers.

Prefabily from the Mumbai area CST to Kurla



Educational Qualifications



Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) in Production / Mechanical / Production / Electronics industries/roles, especially with additional experience or certifications.

Key Responsibilities



Below are typical duties an Inspection Engineer (Mechanical) is expected to perform:

Inspection Tasks

Inspect components, sub?assemblies, static and rotating mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping) for dimensional, material, and quality compliance. Verify welding, casting, forging, heat treatment, machining, etc., conform to relevant codes and standards.

Testing & NDT

Plan and witness/perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as UT (Ultrasonic Testing), RT (Radiographic), PT (Penetrant), MT (Magnetic Particle), VT (Visual), LT/ET, etc. Carry out tests like hydrostatic/pneumatic pressure tests, leak tests, mechanical functional tests, hardness, and material verification. Ensure that testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.

Audit & Surveillance

Conduct internal quality audits/inspections of the site, production areas to ensure compliance with Safety & Quality Management Systems and project specifications. Participate/assist in external audits by clients, regulatory bodies, or third-party certifiers. Monitor contractor/supplier compliance, perform surveillance over their quality activities.

Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions

Identify non-conformities, raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Assist with root cause analysis and propose corrective and preventive actions. Follow up to ensure closure of NCRs and verification of effectiveness.

Continuous Improvement

Monitor inspection/test result trends, performance metrics, and defect rates. Suggest process or design improvements to reduce defects or improve manufacturability. Help in optimising inspection/test plans or sampling to balance cost, time, and risk.

Certifications



NDT certifications (Level II or Level III) in applicable methods (UT, RT, PT, MT, VT, etc.). Welding inspection/welding codes (WPS, PQR) familiarity. Quality Management System / ISO audit certification preferred

Assistant Inspection Engineer: must be on job level of inspection, testing & certification in mechanical, construction and government projects, etc., experience in site & safety environments. Experience with audits/supplier inspections / third-party inspections

Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and isometrics. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Familiarity with test equipment, gauges, CMM, and measuring tools. Understanding of material science (metals, alloys), welding & heat treatment processes.
