Role Overview
We are looking for a senior, hands-on Supply Chain leader to own and drive end-to-end SCM operations in a high-growth manufacturing environment.
This role is not transactional--it demands strategic thinking, strong execution capability, and leadership maturity. You will be responsible for ensuring cost-effective sourcing, uninterrupted production, robust vendor ecosystems, and scalable SCM processes as the company grows across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning
Develop and execute SCM strategies aligned with production plans, business growth, and cost targets
Lead annual procurement budgeting, cost reduction roadmaps, and material forecasting
Identify supply-side risks and implement mitigation strategies (dual sourcing, localization, lead-time reduction)
2. Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
Lead sourcing of raw materials, fabricated & machined parts, hydraulics, electricals, bought-out assemblies, and consumables
Drive strategic sourcing and long-term supplier partnerships for critical and high-value components
Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and service agreements (domestic & international suppliers)
Ensure strict adherence to commercial, quality, and delivery commitments
3. Vendor Development & Performance Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors to support capacity expansion, cost competitiveness, and quality improvement
Conduct supplier audits covering process, quality systems, capacity, and commercial robustness
Monitor supplier performance through structured KPIs: OTIF | PPM | Cost | Responsiveness | Capacity Readiness
Drive supplier improvement programs, NCR closure, and CAPA implementation in coordination with Quality
4. Material Planning & Inventory Control
Lead MRP, material planning, and production scheduling to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing
Maintain optimal inventory levels using ABC / FSN analysis, safety stock norms, and consumption trends
Reduce excess, obsolete, and non-moving inventory and improve inventory turns
Ensure high data accuracy in ERP, BOMs, and material masters
5. Logistics & Warehouse Operations
Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, transportation planning, and documentation
Optimize freight cost, packaging standards, and dispatch efficiency
Ensure strong warehouse discipline: FIFO/FEFO, traceability, layout optimisation, safety, and compliance
Drive digitalisation of stores & logistics (barcode, scanning, real-time inventory visibility)
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Production for daily/weekly/monthly material requirement planning
Coordinate with Quality for incoming inspection, supplier quality improvement, and defect reduction
Partner with Design & Engineering for:
New Product Development (NPD)
ECNs and prototype sourcing
Alternate material and value engineering initiatives
7. Cost Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Deliver measurable cost savings through:
Strategic sourcing
Value engineering
Localization & alternate suppliers
Reduce procurement lead time, logistics cost, and internal handling losses
Implement Lean SCM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects
8. MIS, Governance & Compliance
Own SCM dashboards and reporting: OTIF | Inventory Turns | Lead Time | SCM Cost | Supplier PPM | Slow/Non-Moving Stock
Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory norms, audit requirements, and import/export regulations
Maintain accurate commercial and statutory documentation
9. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead and develop teams across procurement, planning, stores, and logistics
Build a performance-driven culture focused on ownership, discipline, and accountability
Mentor team members on:
ERP & MRP best practices
Vendor negotiation
Cost management and SCM analytics
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
Certifications in SCM, Logistics, SAP/ERP, Lean Six Sigma are an advantage
Experience
15-18 years of progressive SCM experience in manufacturing / automotive / heavy machinery / industrial equipment
Proven experience managing complex BOMs, multi-vendor ecosystems, and production-linked SCM
Strong hands-on exposure to ERP-driven supply chains
