Purpose of the role
Ecommerce will continue to grow globally - consumers' demands are evolving, fueled by economic shifts and easy to use technology. There is a recent and massive shift in how CPG's are going to market - engaging with consumers at each digital touchpoint, leveraging data and driving omnichannel execution. General Mills Digital & Technology department is developing a best in class Product Content Management capability to accelerate growth of ecommerce channel.
Assistant Manager - PIC is a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for driving the evolution of our digital shelf content ecosystem for US and Canada. This MOP role is critical in ensuring our products show up optimally across all e-commerce channels by leading initiatives focused on advanced process improvements, robust automation, and the strategic integration of AI/ML capabilities. The ideal candidate will champion content health, accuracy, and completedness, while simultaneously building scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency, accelerate content flow, and ultimately drive conversion to support the company's aggressive growth targets in the e-commerce space. This role requires a blend of deep technical understanding, strong leadership, and an innovative, forward-thinking mindset.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manager of People (30%):
Lead, mentor, and develop the team of Content Publishers and Auditors, set clear priorities, conduct regular performance reviews, and facilitate growth opportunities for team members.
Act as a subject matter expert for the Ops team by thoroughly understanding the different technology solutions that the team uses on a day-to-day basis.
Proactively research and identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve overall workflows and significantly reduce manual effort.
Develop relevant metrics and measures of success for the team to bring visibility on volumes, performance and operational excellence.
Prepare training materials as needed to conduct and facilitate training to increase awareness and drive the smooth adoption of technology.
Automation and technical expert (40%)
Conduct in-depth analyses of existing content life cycle (creation, enrichment, approval, publishing/syndication, and auditing) workflows to identify systemic inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and manual dependencies, envisioning future-state automated processes.
Drive API modernization for NAR digital Shelf. Lead discovery efforts into product information publication issues and translate findings into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams.
Establish comprehensive monitoring protocols for automated processes to ensure data integrity, system uptime, and prompt resolution of any issues.
Collaborate with Product Owner/Solution Manager to shape the end-to-end product strategy for digital shelf capabilities and determine business value.
QA Lead (20%):
o Formulate test strategy, prepare, review, and validate Testing Process and Metrics, Test design and Execution Techniques.
o Perform independent functional testing. Closely working with the internal teams to define testing use cases and support cross-pod testing requirements
o Work closely with the Solution Manager/Tech lead for estimation & Resource Planning, Test & Defect Management, Automation Testing etc.
Other (10%):
Champion a culture of continuous process improvement, regularly reviewing and refining workflows based on SLAs, performance data, stakeholder feedback, and evolving industry trends.
o Lead thorough process workflow for documentation, creating repository and maintenance to ensure it is updated at all times
o Track and report metrics on a regular basis.
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and establish best practices which can be applied across all customers.
