Assistant Design Engineer

to join our engineering team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Design Engineer will assist the senior engineering team in designing efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant HVAC systems for various projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or a junior-level professional looking to build a career in HVAC design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the design and layout of HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection based on project requirements. Prepare detailed HVAC drawings using AutoCAD under the supervision of senior design engineers. Review architectural and structural drawings to coordinate mechanical design with other trades. Assist in drafting BOQs (Bill of Quantities), design documents, and cost estimations. Coordinate with procurement, site, and project teams to ensure the design intent is implemented accurately. Research and specify appropriate HVAC components and systems based on design and performance requirements. Ensure compliance with local codes, standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.), and client specifications. Participate in design review meetings and site visits as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 2-5 years of experience in HVAC design (internship or training experience is acceptable). Basic understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building services. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit or BIM software is a plus. Familiarity with HVAC design tools such as HAP, DuctSizer, PipeSizer, or similar is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Eagerness to learn and grow in a technical engineering environment. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively under supervision.
