The Asset Performance Engineer is part of the Facilities Process Engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center and is responsible for optimizing the performance of Chevron's Shale and Tight (S&T) assets through data analysis, performance monitoring, and strategic insights. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Shale & Tight operations performance analytics focuses on evaluating production downtime events, maintenance work orders, Opex, and related metrics to support leadership and execution teams in decision-making. The objective is to uncover opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational reliability. This work draws on a broad set of capabilities, including digital technologies (data science, data engineering, data visualization), field operations, maintenance, integrity, reliability, artificial lift systems, and foundational financial fluency.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Analysis and Reporting:
+ Collect, analyze, and interpret performance data from shale and tight oil and gas assets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
+ Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports to provide real-time insights to stakeholders.
+ Utilize statistical tools and software to model asset performance and predict future outcomes.
Performance Optimization:
+ Collaborate with engineering, operations, and production teams to identify and implement strategies for enhancing asset performance and efficiency.
+ Conduct root cause analysis to diagnose performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
+ Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish benchmarks to drive continuous improvement.
Technical Support:
+ Provide technical support for the implementation of new technologies and methodologies aimed at improving asset reliability and production efficiency.
+ Assist in the evaluation of new tools and technologies that could enhance data collection and analysis capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement:
+ Communicate performance insights and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management, through presentations and reports.
+ Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment on asset performance goals and initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications-A minimum of 5 years of experience in performance analytics or a similar role within the oil and gas industry, preferably focusing on shale and tight oil and gas assets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, Python, or similar
Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques specific to oil and gas operations
Foundational financial acumen
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to shale and tight oil and gas production
