Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Assembly Engineer to join our team, focusing on the mechanical assembly of Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and automated systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine building, be proficient in reading technical documentation, and possess excellent troubleshooting abilities to ensure the high-quality and efficient production of custom automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Assembly and Integration:
Perform the mechanical assembly of SPMs and automation equipment according to engineering drawings, schematics, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems:
Assemble, install, and test pneumatic and hydraulic lines and components, ensuring proper function and leak testing.
Quality Control & Testing:
Conduct in-process and final quality control checks, functional validation, and pre-dispatch testing (FAT/SAT) to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Diagnose and resolve assembly, equipment, and manufacturing issues during build and commissioning phases, collaborating with design and production teams to implement corrective actions and permanent solutions (e.g., using Root Cause Analysis or 8D methodologies).
Documentation and Reporting:
Create and maintain detailed documentation for assembly procedures, work instructions, quality reports, and engineering changes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with mechanical design, electrical, automation, and project management teams to ensure smooth project execution and seamless new product introduction.
Installation and Commissioning:
Participate in on-site machine installations and commissioning at customer facilities, providing training and technical support to operators as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive initiatives for process optimization, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction using lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, Poka-yoke systems).
Safety and Standards:
Ensure all work is performed safely and that assembled machines comply with relevant safety regulations and quality systems (e.g., ISO, CE standards).
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
Experience:
Proven experience (e.g., 2+ years) in mechanical assembly and machine building, preferably within the SPM, automation, or capital machinery industries.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical/pneumatic schematics.
Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and various hand/power tools.
Knowledge of mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes, servo motors, and motion control systems.
