Responsibilities of an ASP.NET developer include:

• Creating top-quality applications
• Collaborating with front-end developers
• Ensuring that junior staff delivers according to standards
• Improving functionality
• Using the most updated and appropriate technologies
• Designing and building application layers
• Participating in requirements analysis
• Collaborating with internal teams for software design and architecture
• Writing clean and scalable code
• Testing and deploying applications
• Improving existing software
• Monitoring and maintaining application security and integrity
• Supporting production systems including analysis and troubleshooting of problems
• Providing technical knowledge to support other staff members within the organization
• Interacting with internal and external team members throughout the application life-cycle
• Managing defect tracking system and resolving all issues and preparing update for systems
• Investigating and developing skills in new technologies
• Creating technical specifications and test plans

ASP.NET developers should be proficient in:

• C# (and sometimes Visual Basic)
• Databases and related technologies like ADO.NET and Entity Framework
• JavaScript and jQuery
• One or more of the common third-party control libraries such as Telerik or DevExpress
