General Summary:
BDC Infra IP team delivers DDR IP across multiple product tiers at Qualcomm. Our team is spread across Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida sites.
We are looking for a Technical lead (Director) for the DDR team in Bangalore. A suitable candidate would be a solid technical talent with good people management skills.
The candidate would lead definition, design, synthesis/implementation and documentation for DDR IP development for a variety of products. Stays on top of leading edge DRAM technology standards and process advancements to achieve the best performance, power and Area
Interfaces with various cross-functional teams (e.g. Designers, DV, PD, Architecture Development, Business Groups, Customer Engineering, Post-Si teams) to define & deliver a competitive IP.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of ASIC design, verification, synthesis / implementation related work experience
  • Thorough understanding of Digital design concepts
  • Knowledge of state of the art ASIC design flows
  • Experience in delivering RTL2GDSII
  • Good understanding of DDR families (LP/PC) and generations (DDR2/3/4/5) will be a plus
  • Understanding of Bus protocols like AHB/AXI/ACE/ACE-Lite
  • 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Holds team accountable and provides technical expertise and support to team members to ensure architecture and design tasks are completed on time.
  • Leads complex implementation strategy development that meets system requirements and customer needs for team.
  • Acts as the technical expert in resolving highly complex architecture, design, or verification problems when provided with incomplete, ambiguous or conflicting requirements.
  • Holds team accountable and provides technical expertise for the design and verification strategies of the IP core team members to ensure customer and program needs are met.
  • Directs team to add additional test cases when necessary to ensure that the most complex bugs are fully understood and analyzed.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to team members to ensure power checks are completed on time.
  • Reviews the process of interpreting reports derived from performance checks for various blocks to ensure potential obstacles are identified and provides a mitigation plan for identified issues.
  • Acts as a tech lead on innovative technologies to drive advances; influences standards.
  • Reviews technical documentation for large projects before publication and provides feedback on the documentation, and requirements as needed.
  • Serves as a technical lead by participating in cross-functional groups to ensure a feasible product execution path and communicates this path to team.
  • Drives technical conversation in design or project reviews and project meetings and ensures cross functional team alignment on project tasks, and best interests are represented.
  • Acts as a tech lead on major projects to ensure they are driven to completion (e.g. timely, on budget).
  • Learns and applies lessons from past projects; acts as a tech lead in the recommendation and implementation of improved and/or new engineering procedures.
  • Identifies technical opportunities or projects inside of Qualcomm and secures resources as necessary.

Additional responsibilities might include:
  • Provides technical expertise and support to team members to define and make available foundry technology roadmap choices to meet product requirements
  • Leads team to define and develop competitive and timely foundry technology to fit product roadmap.
  • Leads resolution of critical technology and design-technology interaction issues to execute on timely Product ramp.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 7+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
Level of Responsibility:
  • Working independently with no supervision.
  • Making decisions that are significant in impact, influencing overall program or organization success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.
  • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
  • Having a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that have substantial impact on the organization).
  • Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short or long-term memory.
  • Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.
  • Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
  • Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
