This position is accountable for all clinical operations activities related to the allocation, initiation, conduct (recruitment, quality data collection) and timely completion of Phase I-IV Oncology and Pharma clinical trials within the Hub and works with the Global Head Study & Site Operations (SSO) to define and implement the strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • As the most senior leader for Global Clinical Operations (GCO) representing the Hub level, you'll provide operational management of the SSO Country/Cluster Heads as well as the SSO Hub Head Portfolio and SSO Strategy & Operations Hub Head.
  • Achieving budget targets and contributing to the delivery of the productivity targets and for the implementation of and adherence to Global Execution Study & Site Operations procedures in accordance with GCP, ICH and local regulations.
  • Implementing the Hub's Global Execution Study & Site Operations strategy and for the submission of data within timelines and to the required quality standards.
  • In collaboration with the Hub Head Portfolio define and implement feasibility and allocation strategies and the execution of global development trials in Hub (Innovative Medicines Phase I-IV clinical trials)
  • Optimally utilize Hub opportunities and build competitive advantages for global development trials within the Hub, taking into account the medical standard of care, competitive environment, and local business drivers
  • Ensure trials execution is according to enrolment commitment, timelines, and budget; track performance through key performance indicators; together with the Hub Head Portfolio drive hub re-allocation or corrective action when needed
  • Drive innovation in clinical trial planning and execution, including patient engagement as appropriate
  • Align Global Execution Study & Site Operations objectives with Hub and Country objectives

Minimum requirements
  • At least 12 years' experience in clinical research, in planning/implementing and/or monitoring clinical trials with at least 7 years in a people management role
  • Education: (minimum/desirable): Bachelor's Degree in life sciences required; Advanced Degree in scientific or business preferred
  • Expert understanding of all aspects of clinical drug development with particular emphasis on trial execution and monitoring
  • Thorough understanding of the international aspects of drug development process, including expert knowledge of international standards (GCP/ICH), health authorities (FDA/EMA), local/national Health Authorities regulations and Novartis standards
  • Superior leadership skills, critical thinking skills and matrix management skills. Established track record of leading successful teams, preferably with experience in working with international teams
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required, extensive networking expected. Excellent communicator and presenter (oral and written), ability to communicate to Sr. Leaders
