Job Description

An Art and Craft Teacher instructs students in various artistic techniques--such as drawing, painting, and crafting--to foster creativity and self-expression. They develop age-appropriate curricula, maintain art supplies, manage classroom safety, and organize exhibitions to showcase student work. Key roles include nurturing artistic skills, teaching art history, and assessing student progress.

Core Responsibilities

Curriculum Development:

Plan and implement, engaging art lessons and projects tailored to different age groups and skill levels.

Instruction & Techniques:

Teach diverse mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpting, and crafting, while introducing art history and principles.

Classroom Management:

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized art studio/classroom, ensuring proper use of tools and materials.

Student Assessment:

Evaluate artistic progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain records of student development.

Showcasing & Events:

Organize, display, and promote student artwork in school exhibitions, competitions, and community events.

Mentorship:

Encourage creative self-expression and foster an appreciation for diverse artistic traditions.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.

Experience:

Previous experience teaching art in a school or community setting.

Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of various artistic techniques, materials, and safety protocols.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, patience, creativity, and classroom management abilities.

Key Performance Indicators

Increased student participation and interest in art programs. Successful organization of school-wide art displays. Positive feedback on student creativity and technical improvement.
