An area sales manager is responsible for overseeing and driving sales activities in a specific geographic region, managing a team of sales representatives, and working toward targeted revenue goals through strategic planning and leadership.
Core Responsibilities
Create,Guide, train, and motivate a sales team to achieve region-specific sales targets.
Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the assigned territory.
Review sales data, generate reports, and present insights to senior managers for further action.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers through presentations and follow-ups.
Conduct market research to stay updated with industry trends and competitor activity.
Monitor, assess, and optimize the performance of sales representatives within the region.
Establish and expand the customer base while ensuring consistent product/service quality across locations.
Recruit, train, and allocate sales staff within the team, including assigning specific areas and responsibilities.
Analyze customer feedback and adjust sales plans and policies as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is often preferred.
Proven experience in sales and management, along with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Leadership, analytical, negotiation, and highly effective communication skills.
Familiarity with CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales performance metrics.
Ability to travel within the designated region as required for client meetings and team supervision.
Working Conditions
Typically office-based, but may involve frequent travel to meet with clients and team members.
Standard working hours are 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with possible overtime depending on business needs.
