The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales and business growth of laboratory glassware within the assigned territory. The role involves developing strong relationships with distributors, institutional clients, and research organizations, ensuring achievement of sales and collection targets, and expanding the company's presence in key laboratory and scientific segments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Achievement & Market Development
Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for laboratory glassware products.
Identify and develop new business opportunities in
educational institutions, research laboratories, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, testing facilities
, and
industrial labs
.
Implement territory-specific sales strategies to increase market penetration and brand presence.
Regularly analyse sales trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to develop appropriate action plans.
2. Channel & Distributor Management
Appoint, train, and manage distributors, dealers, and stockists within the assigned territory.
Ensure adequate stock levels, timely order processing, and effective secondary sales through the channel network.
Conduct periodic business reviews with distributors to align on growth objectives and resolve operational issues.
3. Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, laboratory heads, purchase managers, and institutional buyers.
Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions to promote company products.
Address customer queries, complaints, and service issues promptly to ensure satisfaction and retention.
4. Collection & Commercial Control
Ensure timely payment collections and adherence to company credit policy.
Monitor outstanding accounts and coordinate with finance for follow-ups and reconciliation.
5. Reporting & Coordination
Prepare and submit regular MIS reports, sales forecasts, and market intelligence updates.
Coordinate closely with the
logistics, marketing, and technical support
teams to ensure smooth order execution.
Participate in exhibitions, seminars, and scientific trade shows to promote the product range.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical understanding of
laboratory glassware and consumables
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage relationships with diverse customer segments -- academic, research, industrial, and healthcare.
Analytical and strategic thinking with a focus on results.
Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in science (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology) or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
Experience:
4-8 years in sales of
laboratory glassware, lab consumables, or scientific equipment
.
Other Requirements:
Proven track record in managing distributors and institutional sales.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area.
