The Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, managing a team of Medical Representatives (MRs), expanding market share, and ensuring efficient execution of sales strategies within the assigned territory. The role involves strong leadership, field coaching, relationship management with healthcare professionals (HCPs), and adherence to compliance and organizational standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Sales & Business Growth
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned area.
Ensure consistent growth in product sales and market share in the generic pharmaceutical segment.
Identify new business opportunities, product gaps, and potential markets.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market dynamics.
B. Team Management
Lead, guide, and motivate a team of Medical Representatives.
Conduct field coaching, joint working, and regular performance reviews.
Ensure MRs follow effective call planning, doctor coverage norms, and sales strategies.
Recruit, train, and onboard new team members as required.
C. Territory Planning & Execution
Prepare and implement area-wise business plans and promotional strategies.
Optimize routing, frequency of visits, and coverage to maximize productivity.
Ensure effective implementation of marketing campaigns, product promotions, and CME programs.
D. Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with key stockists and distributors.
Ensure timely availability of products across all distribution channels.
Address distributors issues, credit management, and supply chain challenges.
E. Reporting & Compliance
Submit daily/weekly/ monthly reports related to sales performance, fieldwork, and market updates.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical practices.
Maintain accurate data on CRM or designated reporting platforms.

4. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Science, Pharmacy, or Business (preferred).
4-8 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Experience in generic pharma segment mandatory.
Proven track record of meeting sales targets and managing teams.
