The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for managing sales operations within the assigned territory. The role involves driving primary & secondary sales, ensuring distributor management, expanding market reach, monitoring team performance, and implementing sales strategies to achieve business targets in the FMCG sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Revenue Growth
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned area.
Drive both
primary sales (company to distributor)
and
secondary sales (distributor to retailer)
.
Ensure product availability, visibility, and display as per company norms.
Identify new market opportunities to increase market share.
2. Distributor & Dealer Management
Appoint, manage, and motivate distributors and stockists.
Monitor distributor ROI, claims, stock levels, and timely payments.
Ensure proper distribution coverage and efficient supply chain management.
Conduct regular distributor reviews and resolve operational issues.
3. Team Management
Lead and manage Sales Officers, Territory Sales Officers, SRs, and Merchandisers.
Train the team on product knowledge, sales techniques, and market execution.
Conduct regular market visits with the team to evaluate performance.
4. Market Execution
Ensure implementation of trade promotions, schemes, and display programs.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and new product launches.
Ensure adherence to planogram standards and visibility norms.
Support new product launches and ensure secondary placement.
5. Planning & Reporting
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports and market insights.
Forecast primary and secondary sales and plan stock requirements.
Collect market feedback and update management regularly.

Qualifications & Experience

4-8 years of FMCG sales experience, including team handling
Prior experience as Sales Officer / Territory Manager is an advantage

Pay: ₹18,170.11 - ₹54,317.13 per month
