The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will be responsible for driving sales performance, strengthening distribution networks, and ensuring effective market execution across Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The role requires strong FMCG sales leadership with hands-on experience in distributor management and field execution.
Experience in the tea category will be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
Manage and expand distributor and sub-distributor networks to improve market reach and penetration.
Lead, train, and monitor Sales Officers and field sales teams to ensure productivity and discipline.
Drive primary and secondary sales through effective planning, beat execution, and review mechanisms.
Ensure effective implementation of trade schemes, promotions, and visibility activities at retail outlets.
Track competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market movements, especially in the tea segment.
Ensure optimal stock availability, timely replenishment, and control of expiries and damages.
Build strong working relationships with key retailers, wholesalers, and channel partners.
Review daily sales reports, market coverage, and team performance; initiate corrective actions when required.
Coordinate with internal teams including marketing, supply chain, and finance for smooth operations.
Key Requirements
Minimum
2 years of experience as an Area Sales Manager
in the
FMCG sector
(mandatory).
Tea category experience is highly preferred
.
Proven ability to manage distributor-led sales operations and large retail networks.
Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of FMCG trade structure and consumer behavior in Kannur and Kasaragod.
Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned districts.
Basic proficiency in MS Excel and sales reporting tools.
