Area Sales Manager (ASM)
to lead regional sales efforts and drive market expansion.
Role Summary
As the
Area Sales Manager
, you will be responsible for achieving sales targets through effective management of
primary and secondary sales
, appointing and managing
distributors and retail channels
, and leading a team of sales representatives in your assigned territory. This is a key leadership role requiring strong market knowledge and execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Drive
primary sales
by managing distributor stock movement and ensuring regular billing
Oversee
secondary sales
through effective beat planning and team execution at the retail level
Appoint, develop, and manage a network of
distributors, sub-stockists, and retail partners
Develop
go-to-market strategies
to improve channel reach and market penetration
Lead, train, and monitor a team of
Sales Officers, Sales Associates, and Field Executives
Execute product
launches, trade promotions, visibility campaigns, and merchandising activities
Monitor
stock levels
, manage returns, ensure timely collections, and maintain distributor ROI
Analyze sales data, track performance, and revise plans to meet area-level targets
Maintain strong relationships with trade partners and resolve operational issues swiftly
Share regular reports, insights, and market intelligence with the Regional or Zonal Sales Head
Candidate Requirements
5-8 years of experience
in FMCG sales and distribution management
Proven ability to manage both
primary and secondary sales
Hands-on experience in
appointing and managing distributors and retail outlets
Strong knowledge of
territory management, channel strategy, and trade marketing
Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing field teams
Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable with extensive field travel, market visits, and daily reporting
Proficient in
Excel, MIS, and digital reporting tools
