Job Purpose:
Responsible to oversee mechanical maintenance area-wise, focusing on equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safety compliance. The role involves developing maintenance strategies, optimizing preventive and predictive processes, and driving improvements through digital tools and innovation. The Mechanical Lead also mentors teams, manages shutdowns, and coordinates with cross-functional teams for operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Area In-charge - Mechanical (Deputy Manager)- Copper
SOP Development and Safety Governance:

  • Plan and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Drive field rounds and monitor the performance of mechanical systems within the designated area, such as the smelter or refinery.
  • Develop and implement procedures for capturing and reporting energy consumption data and equipment performance.
Maintenance Planning and Execution Monitoring:
  • Plan and oversee breakdown maintenance activities, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and minimal downtime.
  • Develop strategies for managing and prioritizing maintenance tasks based on operational needs and equipment criticality.
  • Drive the execution of preventive maintenance schedules for area-specific equipment, such as cooling towers and power generators.
Predictive and Preventive Maintenance:
  • Drive the execution of preventive maintenance schedules for area-specific equipment, ensuring compliance with maintenance plans.
  • Innovate approaches to enhance the efficiency of scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Mentor the maintenance team in effective troubleshooting and repair techniques for area-specific equipment.
Shutdown Maintenance Planning:
  • Drive the planning and execution of shutdown activities for area-specific equipment, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Plan and coordinate isolation procedures and preparation for maintenance during shutdown periods.
  • Develop detailed shutdown plans and schedules, coordinating with other areas and teams.
Inventory Management and Spares:
  • Drive the management of spares inventory for the designated area for each section within it, ensuring availability of critical components.
  • Plan procurement and stock levels of spares based on the area's maintenance needs and equipment requirements.
  • Develop strategies for optimizing spare part availability and minimizing inventory costs.
Workforce Management:
  • Coordinate and allocate resources within sections, ensuring optimal manpower deployment for efficient operations and timely task completion.
  • Mentor and guide section leaders and field staff, promoting adherence to safety practices and operational protocols to enhance team performance and skill development.
  • Monitor and balance workload distribution across sections, optimizing manpower utilization and minimizing idle time to maintain smooth, efficient operations across all sections.
Training and Development:
  • Mentor the team in best practices for equipment handling and safety, fostering a culture of safety within the area.
  • Mentor the maintenance team in effective troubleshooting and repair techniques for area-specific equipment.
  • Mentor the team in proper documentation practices, ensuring all records are complete and up-to-date.
Special Projects and Digitization:
  • Drive special projects aimed at improving mechanical efficiency and performance within the designated area.
  • Plan and implement new technologies and digital tools to enhance equipment management and monitoring.
  • Develop cross-functional project teams and ensure alignment with overall plant objectives.

Qualifications:
Education Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Master's degree or additional certifications in maintenance management (preferred)
Work Experience (Range of years):
5-10 years of experience in Mechanical Maintenance in the Metal Copper Manufacturing industry
Certifications:
Professional certifications in maintenance management or relevant mechanical disciplines are highly desirable
