Job Purpose

To oversee and manage end-to-end operations of the Coin Blanking Line in the Press Shop, ensuring achievement of production targets with optimum quality, safety, productivity, and cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with SOPs and statutory norms.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

Supervise day-to-day operations of coin blanking presses, decoiling, feeding, blanking, and scrap handling systems. Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets as per PPC plans. Optimize press utilization, cycle time, and line efficiency. Monitor machine parameters and ensure stable, uninterrupted operations.

Quality Assurance

Ensure coin blanks meet specified dimensional, surface finish, and metallurgical standards. Implement in-process quality checks and corrective actions for deviations. Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, trials, and rejection analysis. Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance. Ensure availability and condition of critical tooling, dies, punches, feeders, and press components. Minimize downtime through effective planning and first-level troubleshooting.

Safety, EHS & Compliance

Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, work permits, PPE usage, and statutory requirements. Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and hazard identification (HIRA). Ensure compliance with ISO, TPM, 5S, and EHS standards within the press shop.

Manpower & Shift Management

Manage shift-wise manpower planning, allocation, and productivity. Train and mentor operators, technicians, and helpers on SOPs and best practices. Monitor attendance, discipline, and skill matrix of the team.

Process Improvement & Cost Control

Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, TPM, Lean) to enhance productivity and reduce scrap. Optimize raw material utilization and scrap recovery. Support new product trials, tooling changes, and process stabilization.

Documentation & Coordination

Maintain production reports, downtime logs, quality records, and shift handover notes. Coordinate with PPC, QA, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Logistics teams for smooth operations. Support audits and management reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgical Engineering.

Experience:

10-16 years of experience in Press Shop / Blanking Line operations, preferably in coin blanking or precision metal forming within the steel or metal processing industry.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of press shop operations, blanking presses, and tooling. Knowledge of stainless steel grades, material behavior, and blanking processes. Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and ISO systems. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Leadership, communication, and team-handling capabilities. Basic computer skills (MS Excel, SAP exposure preferred).
