provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the Architecture department. This role oversees curriculum development, design quality, research initiatives, faculty management, and coordination of architectural projects or academic programs. The HOD ensures a high standard of architectural education, innovation, and professional practice aligned with institutional or organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Department Management
Lead and manage the Architecture department, ensuring high-quality academic delivery and project output.
Define departmental goals and align them with institutional or organisational strategy.
Oversee workload allocation, scheduling, and resource planning.
Manage curriculum development, accreditation requirements, and academic standards.
Oversee studio-based teaching, design reviews, and academic research.
Promote innovation in architectural pedagogy, sustainability, and digital design technologies.
3. Project Oversight (for firms / organisations)
Supervise concept design, schematic design, and detailed drawings.
Review and approve project proposals, design presentations, and technical submissions.
Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning laws, sustainability standards, and QA processes.
4. Faculty/Team Management
Recruit, mentor, and develop academic staff, architects, and design teams.
Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
Foster a collaborative and creative department culture.
5. Research, Innovation & Industry Engagement
Promote research, publications, and participation in architectural forums or competitions.
Build partnerships with industry, government bodies, and professional associations.
Encourage adoption of advanced design technologies (BIM, AI, parametric design, sustainable materials).
6. Administration & Compliance
Manage budgets, reporting, timetables, and departmental policies.
Ensure health & safety compliance in studios, labs, and project sites.
Oversee accreditation processes (RIBA, NAAB, ARB, or local authority equivalents).
