Job Description


Overview The Scrum Master is the servant leader of a team of approximately 3-12 individuals (including themselves and the Product Owner) who is responsible for protecting the team from influences or impediments which prevent the team from accomplishing its goals. As the master of the Scrum framework, they embody the values and principles of Scrum to help the team and stakeholders receive maximum benefit from the new Agile ways of working so the group of individuals can become a high performing team that works as a sustainable pace. Together with Product Owner/Product Manager, Scrum Master supports the work of the Team, helps with the backlog refinement and facilitates agile ceremonies, such as daily scrum calls, sprint planning, review and retrospective. Responsibilities - Observes ART\'s work and continuously searches for improvement areas to help team achieve higher level of efficiency - Supports employees in implementing Agile ways of working - Chief protector of the Agile Release Train (Team of Teams) from negative outside influence or situations which may interrupt the process - Manages and optimizes the flow of value by ensuring backlogs, Kanbans, and metrics are properly utilized - Establishes cadence (e.g. PI Planning schedule) for the Program - Facilitates Program events such as sync meetings, Inspect & Adapt Workshops, and PI Planning (or similar) - Drives relentless improvement - Collaborates with Product Management and Product Owners to track the execution of Features - Resolves or escalates impediments - Manages risk and dependencies - Coordinates with Scrum Masters to ensure execution excellence - Guide the ART on how to get the most out of self-organization for the purpose of increasing effectiveness, quality, and customer delight - Effectively influences Product Manager /Product Owner and agile teams to drive product roadmap forward - Proactively identifies program-leven impediments, looks for pragmatic and constructive solutions and escalates when necessary - Uses creative techniques for leading the ART to solve problems - Effectively shares knowledge of Agile ways of working - Builds relationships taking into account stakeholder needs and business goals - Communicates in a manner that is understandable to recipients both inside and outside of the team - Can successfully influence the behavior of others without having a formal supervision - Champions quality practices and DevOps - Coordinates with other ARTs and enables cross-program collaboration - Collaborates with Product Management, System Architects, and IT Platform Managers to refine features and decompose them to stories - Prioritizes work in the team\'s backlog - Refine user stories with the team to deliver features and enablers - Collaborates with team members to ensure stories are clear and have mutually understood acceptance criteria - Accepts work when delivered and provides meaningful feedback when the work cannot be delivered - Supports the team in ensuring the work meets the definition of ready before work begins - Ensures successful team reviews (demos) and integrated system demos - Works with team members, Product Management, and System Architects to ensure estimates for features and stories are performed in a Lean-Agile manner - Continually ensure that the team\'s backlog priorities are aligned with the priorities of Product Management, IT Platform Management, and stakeholders and the agreed upon roadmap - Supports the team in creating sprint goals and longer-range objectives - Rejects low value mid-sprint priority changes, accepts and supports critical re-prioritizations, and recognizes the difference - Supports Lean-Agile estimation practices - Supports quality practices and DevOps - Is in constant communication with Product Management, IT Platform Managers, and other stakeholders concerning the status of in-progress work and preparation for upcoming work Qualifications Release Train Engineer or Advanced Scrum Master certification (RTE, PSM II/III, CSP, CTC, SPC, RTE, etc.) or equivalent relevant experience - Multiple years\' experience as a Scrum Master or equivalent relevant experience - Multiple years\' experience delivering complex solutions - Experience working with Agile teams and understanding Agile values, principles, and practices or equivalent relevant experience Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and manufacturing of technological processes - Ability to search for new solutions to meet challenges together with the team - Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum - Demonstrated experience in servant leadership - Ability to determine what is scrum and what is not - Experience with successful Agile techniques - Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills - Ability to adapt to a changing environment - Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction - Ability to utilize program-level metrics for the purpose of leading meaningful retrospection and facilitating ART improvement - Knowledge of agile work management tools - Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders - First level Product Owner certification (POPM, PSPO, CSPO) - Practical experience (over 3 years) working a job in complex institutions - Ability to search for new solutions to meet challenges together with the team - Good knowledge of business and technology and a deep, tactical way of thinking - Practical knowledge and understanding of the software development process - Good understanding of high-level software architecture in his or her area - Practical knowledge of coaching tools in team management - Very strong verbal and written communication skills
