Job Title: Architect (Furniture & Retail Design Specialist)Location: IndoreJob Summary:



The Architect will be responsible for the end-to-end design, planning, and execution of new and renovated spaces within our furniture mall and retail outlets. This role requires a strong blend of structural architectural knowledge, retail design expertise, and an understanding of space planning to maximize product display, customer flow, and brand experience. The Architect will ensure all projects are aesthetically pleasing, highly functional, compliant with building codes, and delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:Design & Planning:



Develop architectural concepts, detailed designs, and plans for the furniture mall, including the building structure, tenant spaces, common areas, and exterior facade. Focus on retail and exhibition design principles to create an optimal customer journey, effective product merchandising, and appealing interior/exterior aesthetics. Conduct in-depth space planning and programming to maximize leasable/display area efficiency while maintaining optimal customer circulation and comfort. Prepare detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and 3D models using CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp). Select, specify, and approve all building materials, fixtures, furniture, and finishes, ensuring they align with the brand image, durability standards, and budget. Coordinate and integrate specialized systems into the design, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, security, and fire safety.

Project Management & Execution:



Lead projects from concept through construction, overseeing all phases including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Serve as the primary liaison with external consultants (structural, mechanical, electrical engineers), contractors, and local regulatory bodies. Ensure all designs and construction meet local and national building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, and accessibility requirements (ADA/Barrier-Free). Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and contractor bids. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, ensure adherence to design intent and quality standards, and resolve any on-site design issues quickly. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Collaboration & Communication:



Collaborate with the Retail Operations, Visual Merchandising, and Marketing teams to ensure the physical space supports merchandising strategies and brand goals. Present design proposals and progress updates to senior management and stakeholders, incorporating feedback as needed. Maintain accurate project documentation, including design revisions, contracts, and regulatory approvals.

Qualifications:Education & Licensure:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution. Professional registration/licensure as an Architect in [State/Region] is highly preferred.

Experience:



Minimum of [X] years of experience in professional architectural practice, with a strong focus on commercial, retail, or mixed-use developments (shopping centers, malls, large format retail). Proven experience in retail interior architecture and space planning is essential. Portfolio demonstrating successful completion of complex commercial projects.

Skills & Competencies:



Exceptional proficiency in CAD software (e.g.,

Revit, AutoCAD

) and 3D modeling/visualization tools (

SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Suite

). In-depth knowledge of local and national building codes, zoning regulations, and construction procedures. Strong creative design ability with a practical understanding of budget and construction limitations. Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills. Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
