The Architect/ interior designer is responsible for leading design projects from concept to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, functional, and visually appealing spaces that meet client objectives, budget, and regulatory standards. The role involves coordinating with clients, vendors, and contractors to manage all phases of a project, from initial design development to final installation.
Core responsibilities
Client communication and concept development
Conduct initial consultations to understand a client's needs, budget, and aesthetic preferences.
Develop and present initial design concepts through sketches, mood boards, and digital presentations.
Provide design advice on space planning, layout, color palettes, and materials.
Design and technical execution
Create detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and lighting layouts, using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD and SketchUp.
Select and specify all materials, finishes, fixtures, and furniture (FF&E), considering aesthetics, durability, and cost.
Create 3D models and renderings to help clients visualize the final design.
Project management
Develop project timelines and define budgets, adjusting as needed to stay on schedule and within financial constraints.
Source products from suppliers and trade showrooms, negotiating pricing for materials and labor.
Oversee construction and coordinate with architects, contractors, and tradespeople (e.g., plumbers and electricians) to ensure plans are implemented correctly.
Manage the installation of all design elements, including furniture, fixtures, and decor.
Regulatory and site management
Ensure all design plans and installations adhere to relevant building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality control.
Perform post-completion evaluations to ensure client satisfaction and address any final adjustments.
