About this Role

The Sales and Research Production Management team at JPMorgan Chase is responsible for supporting proprietary and external technology platforms powering the Sales and Research business along with its user base of sales people and research analysts. The team supports a diverse array of modern platforms encompassing sales-trader workflow execution across multiple asset classes, pricing and analytics, award-winning Research production, publication and distribution to numerous corporate and institutional clients, revenue reporting and Client-Relationship management.

This is an Associate role which will be responsible for supporting proprietary technology platforms for Sales people and Research assistants globally, and working with global counterparts on strategic improvement initiatives to evolve and enhance the capabilities of the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team providing support to a rapidly growing technology platform aimed at digitizing and automating manually intensive flows across our Sales franchise.

Key responsibilities

  • Regular engagement with business client services, infrastructure and other stakeholders to resolve day-to-day issues impacting the application stack - including being first point of contact for Technology and Business across the full spectrum of production management responsibilities
  • Work within a team comprised of both local and offshore resources to provide day-to-day support to internal and external users
  • Work closely with the Software Engineering and Product team to understand issues, drive resolutions and stability enhancements of the applications evolving the support to meet these needs.
  • Create, continuously improve and maintain real-time monitoring dashboards to ensure system operability and performance
  • Proactively identify areas for stability improvement in the software/hardware stack and work with SRE and Software Engineering team to develop and implement the solutions
  • Identify and drive creation of tooling to ensure quality management of incidents and proactive follow-ups to issues
  • Manage the on-boarding of new businesses, clients and applications to be supported by the team
  • Ensure resiliency of the platform through managed DR/SR/HA events.
The successful candidate has to be familiar with ITIL support methodologies and concepts (e.g. Change, Incident, Problem, Event, Configuration management). A candidate who has a proven track record of supporting internal and/or external clients is a strong preference, as is someone who has previously worked in a diverse team.

Key skills:

The successful applicant will possess an undergraduate degree in a numerate subject (e.g. mathematics, engineering, computing science) and be keen to develop a career in a world class investment bank with an intimate exposure to a front office environment. They will possess the following skills and core competencies:
  • Automating daily support operations using scripting and programming languages like Perl, Python, Java, C#
  • Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Experience developing and supporting applications built on Python, Java or .NET framework
  • Experience with database technologies and ability to develop and execute complex SQL queries
  • Knowledge and experience with system and application monitoring softwares like Geneos, DynaTrace or Splunk
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Experience working with a variety of platforms, including Linux (RHEL experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of scheduling tools (Autosys, Control M)
  • Experience supporting public/private cloud based applications
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a DevOps / SRE model would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of development tools (Jenkins, Git, BitBucket)
  • Proficiency with incident and problem management best practices including: resource co-ordination, stakeholder communication, root cause analysis, conducting incident post mortems
  • Knowledge and expertise in applying ITIL methodologies to Change, Incident and Problem management of a technology platform
  • Possesses a continuous process improvement mindset
  • Networking/ Infrastructure working knowledge a plus
