Role Purpose

The Applications Manager leads the technical solution development function for FG Wilson's Sales and Direct Sales business across Dealership networks, Data Centres, Prime Power, Infrastructure, Mining, Industrial, and complex multi-MW installations. The role ensures that all customer requirements are translated into robust, compliant, cost-optimized generator solutions while enabling seamless integration between Engineering, Sales, Proposal, Project Management and Dealers.

Key Responsibilities

A. Technical Leadership & Solution Development

Lead development of end-to-end technical solutions for complex genset applications including data centres, prime running sites, standby systems, multi-set synchronizing schemes, and special engineering requirements. Evaluate customer specifications, tender documents, SLDs, electrical layouts, load profiles, and environmental constraints to define compliant FG Wilson solutions. Approve technical selections including alternators, controllers, cooling systems, LV/MV switchgear, exhaust & fuel systems, enclosures, and auxiliary equipment. Ensure solutions meet global engineering standards, local regulations, and FG Wilson design guidelines.

B. Pre-Sales & Bid Support

Support Proposal Engineers during complex tenders with all technical inputs, clarifications, compliance matrices, engineering notes, and risk assessments. Participate in technical discussions with key accounts, consultants, EPCs, and end-users. Provide optimized cost-to-design trade-offs to enhance bid competitiveness while ensuring engineering integrity.

C. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Product Engineering, Factory Engineering, Sales, PMO, Dealers, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless execution of technical solutions. Own the technical interface with Engineering to ensure Product Variation Requests (PVR) are created and validated in time and approved. Drive continuous improvement in tools such as sizing calculators, design libraries, cooling calculators, and documentation templates.

D. Strategic Support for Direct Sales Growth

Provide technical and strategic support for major customers and large-scale project opportunities. Support development of segment-specific strategies, new product requirements, and FG Wilson-led solution offerings. Participate in roadmap discussions for future product and solution development based on market requirements.

E. Working Relationships

Internal: Sales, Proposals, Engineering, PMO, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain. External: Consultants, EPCs, end-customers, dealers, third-party engineering partners.
