Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Application Support Engineer
to provide technical and functional support for our
digital evaluation and result processing system
in the education domain. The role involves managing application deployment, server configuration, database handling, and supporting evaluation operations across centers.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and process student raw data from departments for evaluation.
Create and maintain Result Analysis (RA) for result processing and digital evaluation.
Perform application testing and validation before deployment.
Install and configure Ubuntu 22.04 and all required applications for the digital evaluation system.
Deploy and manage digital evaluation applications on local or central servers.
Configure network connectivity, assign static IPs, and ensure smooth communication with evaluation centre.
Create and manage database replication for redundancy and performance optimization.
Write and execute basic to advanced SQL queries to extract data, analyze issues, and support root cause analysis.
Export results and reports from the portal in CSV format as per evaluation requirements.
Monitor system performance, perform log analysis, and troubleshoot application or network issues.
Provide technical assistance to End users/evaluators training and queries, local server admins and ensure system uptime during evaluation with email and chat support.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalations efficiently.
Support continuous improvement of application deployment and maintenance processes.

Troubleshoot connectivity issues and ensure stable network performance.
Manage switches, routers, and access points for optimized performance.
Implement IP addressing, subnetting, and VLAN configurations.
Configure and manage firewall rules, NAT, and VPN connections.
Monitor inbound and outbound traffic for potential threats.
Maintain access control lists (ACLs) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
Perform regular security audits and log analysis for threat detection.
Implement policies for web filtering, application control, and bandwidth management.
Troubleshoot firewall-related connectivity issues between networks or servers.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux (22.04) administration and command-line operations.
Experience in server setup, configuration, and deployment of applications
Proficiency in system performance monitoring, log analysis, and troubleshooting
Familiarity with user and permission management, cron jobs, and shell scripting for automation
Hands-on experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL installation and configuration
Ability to create, manage, and replicate databases for redundancy and performance
Skilled in writing basic to advanced SQL queries (JOIN, GROUP BY, HAVING, LIKE, etc.)
In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN configuration and maintenance
Knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, and VLAN setup
Experience in managing switches, routers, and access points
Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues and optimize performance
Expertise in configuring and managing firewall rules, NAT, and VPN connections
Knowledge of Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
Experience performing security audits and analyzing logs for potential threats.
Understanding of web filtering, bandwidth control, and application-level policies.
Strong grasp of CIA Triad principles -- Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability* Knowledge of Apache/Nginx web servers and related configurations.
Familiarity with testing, validation, and version control tools (e.g., Git).
Ability to troubleshoot application, database, and network-level issues efficiently.
Strong ability to train and assist end-users, evaluators, and local admins
Skilled in providing call, email and chat-based technical support.
Experience with data handling (Excel - CSV imports/exports) and large-scale result processing.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure during result processing cycles.
Work Environment:
Flexible to work in a
rotational 24x7 environment
, including
night, weekend, and holiday shifts
during evaluation schedules.
Ready to travel at client location for go live support, end user support.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science, Information Technology
, or a related discipline.
1-3 years of experience
in
application support or IT operations
, preferably in the
education or evaluation domain
