Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and solves issues within multiple components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve software-related challenges, ensuring that business operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will engage in problem-solving activities, analyze system performance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of application support processes, all while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional service to stakeholders. Roles & Responsibilities: -Install, configure, and manage Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE) in physical and virtual environments. -Perform system upgrades, kernel tuning, patch management, and OS hardening. -Manage user accounts, file systems, and permissions in secure multi-user environments. -Support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V). -Perform server provisioning, hardware troubleshooting, and network/storage configuration. -Manage DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, and centralized logging (Syslog, ELK). -Deploy and manage Linux-based workloads in public and hybrid cloud environments. -Automate cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. -Support cloud-native tools and services (e.g., EC2, S3, Azure VMs, IAM, GCE). -Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell. -Use configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible). -Ensure systems adhere to internal security policies and industry standards (e.g., CIS, NIST). -Implement and maintain firewall rules, SELinux/AppArmor, encryption, and patching. -Participate in audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation plans. -Use tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch to monitor infrastructure health. -Troubleshoot system performance issues, log errors, and bottlenecks. -Optimize system resources and contribute to capacity planning. -Work cross-functionally with networking, security, DevOps, and application teams. -Document system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and disaster recovery runbooks. -Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and provide escalation support as needed Professional & Technical Skills: -Category :Skills / Tools / Technologies -Linux OS: RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, systemd, LVM, SELinux -Cloud Platforms: AWS (EC2, S3, IAM), Azure (VMs, NSGs), GCP (Compute, IAM) -Automation/IaC: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Bash, Python -Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, Proxmox -Containers: Docker, Kubernetes (basic understanding) -Monitoring: Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, ELK Stack -Storage & Backup: NFS, iSCSI, RAID, LVM, Commvault, Veeam (optional) -Networking- IP, DNS, VLANs, Firewalls, Load Balancers -Version Control: Git, GitLab, Bitbucket -Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. -Ability to work independently and within a global team. -Excellent communication and documentation abilities. -Proactive attitude and attention to detail.
