Description:
CTG is seeking to fill an Application Database Administrator - RDBMS position for our client.
Location: Remote
Duration: 7 months
Duties:
Code Review & Walk-throughs
Analyze COBOL and DB2 code changes for efficiency, accuracy, and cost optimization.
Provide actionable feedback to development teams prior to production deployment.
Streamline the SDLC process to enable smoother code releases.
Development Support
Maintain integrity of approximately 10 development and production environments/schemas.
Manage space, volume, and data consistency issues.
Populate environments using flash copies and monitor database utilities and objects.
Resolve issues via ticketing systems and L2 support processes.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor and tune SQL queries to enhance DB2 performance.
Analyze CPU utilization and optimize system efficiency.
Utilize tools like Mainview for proactive DB2 performance management.
Reduce unnecessary alerts and improve system scalability monitoring.
Operational Support & Documentation
Conduct data archiving and quarterly purges.
Manage defect tracking through formal issue-tracking systems.
Document new processes, tools, and procedures in a centralized knowledge repository.
Skills:
Mainframe DB2 Database Administration (DBA)
SQL performance tuning and optimization
Code review for COBOL/DB2 applications
Experience with database utilities, flash copies, and environment management
Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Mainview)
Strong operational and documentation skills
Experience:
Proven experience as a Mainframe DB2 DBA supporting large-scale enterprise environments
Hands-on experience with multiple development and production schemas
Experience providing L2 support and resolving database issues
Strong track record in SQL performance tuning and system optimization
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $50.00 to $120.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
