Application Data Engineering Lead - Kavach

The Application Data Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities related to station-specific application data preparation, verification, and testing for Kavach projects. The role requires deep technical expertise, adherence to international safety standards (EN 50128), and the ability to guide teams in delivering high-quality, safety-critical application data within project timelines.

Application Data Preparation: Lead the preparation of station-specific application data for Kavach deployments. Ensure all data is developed in line with project requirements, safety standards, and EN 50128-compliant processes. Coordinate with system engineering and design teams to collect input data and define application logic. Verification & Validation: Establish and execute EN 50128-based verification and validation (V&V) processes for application data. Conduct peer reviews, static checks, and dynamic validation of application data. Ensure traceability of data preparation and testing against system and safety requirements. Testing & Commissioning Support: Support integration testing of application data with Kavach systems in lab and field environments. Collaborate with testing teams to simulate operational scenarios and validate data integrity. Provide on-site and off-site support during system integration, commissioning, and acceptance testing. Leadership & Coordination: Lead and mentor a team of application data engineers to deliver project outcomes. Define work breakdown structures, allocate tasks, and monitor progress against milestones. Drive compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and safety-critical development practices. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for application data activities within the project. Coordinate with internal teams (Design, System Engineering, Safety, Testing) and external stakeholders (RDSO, Indian Railways, Partners). Provide status updates, risk assessments, and compliance reports aligned with EN 50128 requirements.

Technical Skills:



Strong knowledge of application data engineering in signaling, train control, or safety-critical systems. Hands-on experience with EN 50128-compliant software/data lifecycle processes including specification, design, V&V, and safety assurance. Proficiency in working with application logic, configuration tools, and simulation/testing environments. Strong analytical ability to validate complex datasets while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

Desired Skills:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics / Electrical / Computer / Railway Engineering or related field. 8+ years of experience in railway signaling, train control systems, or application data engineering. Proven expertise in applying EN 50128 processes in safety-critical projects (experience in ETCS, CBTC, or Kavach preferred).

Additional Requirements



Willingness to travel to project sites for application data testing and commissioning activities. Knowledge of Indian Railway standards, RDSO processes, and safety regulations. Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and process compliance in all aspects of work.
