Summary: PayPal API security & Governance taskforce is a team dedicated to designing, implementing, and maintaining PayPal’s API eco-system. We are building world-class infrastructure, services and procedures that support improving the security resilience of PayPal’s APIs. The APIs span across multiple environments (cloud native and dedicated on-prem), and use multiple technologies. We’re looking for an Identity Security Engineer to help redesign and implement PayPal’s identity stack, model, and services to be robust and support all relevant use cases for accessing both internal and external APIs. This is a hands-on position, and we’re looking for someone who can not only implement the relevant solutions, but also design them and identify the correct solutions. :
Key Responsibilities:

• Extend identity scheme to enable authentication of end users, transactions and services across external and internal boundaries
• Define enterprise standards for HTTP headers to use for service communications across internal and external boundaries
• Define standards for identities that can authenticate and authorize across multiple layers including network, application/service mesh, applications and sessions
• Design and implement services that enable authentication and authorization on a global scale, such as session validation, identity assurance, and identity related headers
• Define features and capabilities to enable identity management systems for granular access policy definition and integration (with policy enforcement points)
• Establish and deliver IAM services within cloud environments to support a federated trust access model across multiple trust boundaries and identity sytems

Who you are: Along with having a tremendous passion for security, you are someone who is self driven and recognizes gaps and/or needs for the organization. You have in-depth experience in and thrive on collaborating across functions and are capable of building a compelling vision others are motivated to follow and execute on. You are willing to challenge the status quo, find inefficiencies in systems and fix them, but also have the ability to balance your point of view with different perspectives to push for the best company outcome. Experience and Skills Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Information security including common Identity and Access Management principles
• Experience with performant and highly scalable CIAM systems such as AD

• Experience building solutions, preferably in Java, JS, or Python

• Experience designing with API authentication schemes and headers

• Experience designing and implementing identity solutions and distributed authorization systems.

• Experience with designing and implementing mesh technologies

• Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP - advantage

• Experience working with micro services – advantage

• Experience working with cloud (GCP/AWS) IAM systems - – advantage

• Experience working in large scale B2C service provider – advantage

• Demonstrated ability to lead with innovative ideas rather than follow the competition and traditional approaches; an "out-of-the-box" thinker will determine what PayPal needs to build today to get ahead of future threats.
• Customer-oriented thinking (specifically, internal customers, serving the PayPal developer community)
• Strong orientation toward making decisions that will benefit the organization as a whole rather than optimizing resources or benefits solely for one's team.
