An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) provides basic healthcare, focusing on maternal and child health, childbirth assistance, immunizations, and family planning in community and rural settings. They are crucial for connecting communities with the public health system and perform roles like health education, basic medical assistance, health check-ups, and organizing health programs. Maternal and child health:

Providing antenatal and postnatal care, assisting with safe deliveries, and supporting child health initiatives.

Immunizations: Administering vaccinations to children and adults.

Health education and awareness: Conducting programs and campaigns to educate the community on various health topics.

Primary healthcare: Offering basic medical assistance, conducting health check-ups, and referring complex cases to higher-level healthcare facilities.

Community support: Working directly with the community and linking them to the broader public health system, often playing a vital role in programs like the National Health Mission.

Preventive care: Providing guidance on family planning and promoting hygiene and sanitation.

Disease management: Addressing both communicable and non-communicable diseases as the health landscape evolves.
