Anesthesia Care Responsibilities and Qualifications
Overview:
The provision of safe anesthesia care is essential for both surgical and emergency procedures, encompassing pre-operative assessments, intra-operative management, and post-operative recovery monitoring.
A) Key Responsibilities:
1) Conduct pre-anaesthesia evaluations and secure informed consent from patients.
2) Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, local, or sedation techniques.
3) Monitor vital signs and manage airway safety throughout surgical procedures.
4) Address and manage any anesthesia-related complications as they arise.
5) Oversee patient recovery within the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and implement effective pain management strategies.
6) Provide support for emergency resuscitation efforts and critical care as required.
7) Maintain accurate anaesthesia documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
8) Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
9) Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nursing staff, and medical technicians.
B) Skills and Competencies:
1) Possess strong clinical judgment paired with proficient airway management abilities.
2) Demonstrate the capability to operate effectively under pressure and respond promptly to emergency situations.
3) Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to engage in teamwork.
C) Qualifications:
The candidate must possess an MBBS degree and a postgraduate qualification in Anesthesiology (such as DA, MD, or DNB, as applicable). Additionally, a valid medical license is required.
