Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, with specialism in Microservices and Java. Individuals will be developing new services for the VISTA Order Management System. You will be part of a team of responsible for re-engineering an existing Order Management system to support critical business initiatives across Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific. The core OM application is being transitioned from a legacy monolith to an Microservice based architecture.


The successful candidate will be working within an agile delivery team building Order Management applications and services. Our engineers typically work with a paired partner to develop and implement optimal and innovative solutions. They will work collaboratively with other software engineers to develop high quality solutions as well as with other technical teams to share best practices and ensure consistency in technologies, approaches and tools adoption.

Education:

Degree in Computer Science /Electrical/ Electronics/Mechanical Engineering

Technical Skills:

Demonstrated experience in platform software development languages, such as but not limited to: Java, Kotlin, JavaScript and React


Experience of Micro services using Spring


Demonstrate high levels of motivation and an ability to operate with limited supervision while delivering high quality results


Passion for Software Craftsmanship, and experience working in a pair programming environment


Evidence of a strong customer mind-set and having developed customer relationships


Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels of personnel within both IT and the business. - Evidence of good time management, prioritization and organizational skills


Working knowledge of version control systems (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins)


Good knowledge of databases (Oracle, MS SQL)


Own the technical backlog for the product to ensure technical debt is actively addressed


Experience of working in an Agile environment

Experience of Javascript with node


Experience of CI/CD


Experience of GIT, Jenkins, Gradle


Experience of Progress Web Apps (e.g. React, Angular etc)


Knowledge of software design patterns

Proven background of leading in new technologies with desire to research and challenge existing ways of thinking



Work with Product Owners, Product Manager and Architects to design optimal solutions Develops automated tests with working software, to confirm software functionality conformance to functional and non-functional requirements. Improves continuous integration tooling by automating manual processes within the delivery pipeline and improving quality gates based on past learnings. Reviews ongoing production software operations and troubleshoots production issues. Implements tooling that monitors application performance metrics and automatically notifies team when a failure occurs in production. * Guides and coaches junior software engineers
