Assistant/Deputy Manager - Injection Moulding

Department:

Production-Inj. Moulding / Manufacturing

Reporting To:

Production Manager / Plant Manager / Operations Head

Job Purpose:

To oversee and optimize injection moulding operations to ensure high-quality output, productivity, and machine efficiency. The Assistant/Deputy Manager is responsible for managing moulding processes, supervising the shop floor team, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Execution

Supervise daily injection moulding operations as per production schedules. Monitor machine utilization and efficiency to meet production targets. Coordinate with planning, maintenance, and quality teams for smooth workflow.
2.

Process Optimization

Set and optimize process parameters for moulding machines to ensure consistent product quality. Troubleshoot process issues and perform root cause analysis of defects. Implement process improvements to reduce cycle time, rejection rate, and energy consumption.
3.

Tooling & Maintenance Coordination

Oversee changeovers and setup of moulds, ensuring minimal downtime. Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and breakdown handling. Ensure proper handling and storage of moulds and related equipment.
4.

Quality Assurance

Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications for all moulded components. Monitor and minimize rework and rejection levels through process control and inspection. Work closely with the QA/QC team for audits and customer-specific quality requirements.
5.

Team Management

Supervise and train operators, setters, and support staff. Enforce discipline, safety protocols, and 5S practices on the shop floor. Prepare shift reports, daily production data, and performance analysis.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations. Promote and maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Strong technical knowledge of injection moulding processes, machines (Hydraulic, Electric), and moulds. Hands-on experience with machines like Arburg, Haitian, Engel, Toshiba, etc. (customize as needed). Good understanding of polymers/plastics like ABS, PP, PC, Nylon, etc. Knowledge of production planning, quality tools (7 QC Tools, Kaizen, 5S), and problem-solving techniques. Leadership and team-handling skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

Educational Qualifications:

B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical / Plastics / Polymer Engineering or equivalent.

Experience Required:

8-10 years of hands-on experience in injection moulding production, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
