Job Description

An Ambulance Driver job involves safely and quickly transporting patients in an ambulance, providing basic first aid/support during transit, coordinating with EMTs, ensuring vehicle readiness (maintenance, cleanliness), navigating efficiently, handling documentation, and remaining calm under pressure to reassure patients and reach destinations timely. Key skills include defensive driving, communication, decision-making, and physical fitness, with responsibilities focusing on patient safety and timely care. Core Responsibilities:

Patient Transport:

Safely drive the ambulance to hospitals or other locations, responding to emergencies.

Basic Care:

Offer basic first aid, life support, and comfort to patients during transport.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with EMTs and paramedics for smooth patient handovers and care.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Keep the ambulance clean, stocked, and in good working order (roadworthy).

Route Planning:

Determine the best routes for quick and efficient travel.

Documentation:

Complete necessary paperwork for patient transport.
Key Skills & Qualifications:

Valid Driver's License (often with specific endorsements for emergency vehicles). Excellent Defensive Driving Skills & ability to stay calm. Good Communication & Interpersonal Skills. Physical fitness and agility. Ability to remain calm and reassuring in stressful situations.
