Job Description

Job Purpose:


The Chief Traction Power Controller (CTPC) is responsible for real-time monitoring, control, and coordination of traction power supply systems across the RRTS corridor to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted train operations. The CTPC plays a vital role in electrical power management, incident response, and coordination with maintenance and field teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Real-Time Traction Power Monitoring & Control

Monitor power supply status through SCADA and other control systems Operate remotely controlled circuit breakers, isolators, and changeovers as per standard procedures Ensure optimal traction power availability for train movement and auxiliary services

2. Incident Management

Take immediate action during faults, tripping, or power failures Isolate faulty sections to minimize impact and restore supply quickly Coordinate with Electrical Maintenance and TPC & OCC teams during incidents

3. Coordination & Communication

Maintain continuous communication with: + Shift Traction Power Controller & Chief Controller
+ Electrical Maintenance staff
+ Substation operators
+ Emergency response teams
Log all events, commands, and communications accurately Responsible for Management of duty roster/leave management of TPC, shall also bridge the gap in shift any by offering himself for duty in TPC desk

4. Safety & Compliance

Ensure all actions comply with electrical safety procedures and standard operating procedures Initiate power blocks for maintenance and ensure proper restoration Maintain knowledge of earthing procedures and ensure safety clearances

5. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain real-time event logs, fault records, and power block registers Prepare incident reports and submit shift-wise summaries to higher authorities Assist in energy consumption tracking and performance reports

Desirable:

Prior experience in metro rail / high-speed / RRTS projects Knowledge of railway electrical codes and standards Familiarity with integrated OCC environment (Signaling, Rolling Stock, Power, Communication)

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Minimum 4-8 years of experience in power control, preferably in metro/railway/industrial control rooms Experience in SCADA systems and high-voltage power distribution (25kV AC preferred) Good understanding of OHE, TSS, and Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills * Ability to work under pressure and in 24x7 shift operations
