About the role:
A non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty among historically under-resourced communities is looking for a proactive and visionary Alumni Manager.
The Alumni Manager will lead and manage engagement with students who have successfully been selected into JNVs, RGNVs, and EMRS institutions. This role is responsible for developing and managing structured alumni networks, peer mentorship models, academic and emotional support systems, and career guidance opportunities for these students in residential schools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Alumni Engagement & Mentorship Development:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of all selected students.
  • Establish a structured peer mentorship program connecting junior students (Class 6-8) with seniors (Class 9-12) for emotional support, motivation, and academic guidance.
  • Facilitate regular interactions (quarterly or bi-annual) with alumni to track schooling progress, emotional well-being, and parental engagement.
  • Design and implement a buddy system to reduce the risk of dropouts and build immediate support structures.
2. Career and Academic Guidance:
  • Design exposure modules and partner-led sessions for career exploration, stream awareness (Class 9-10), stream-specific subject guidance, and entrance exam coaching (Class 11-12).
  • Guide students in choosing streams and careers using expert sessions, career mapping tools, and alumni testimonials.
3. Partnership Development:
  • Build partnerships with external organizations offering services such as:
  • Career counseling
  • Entrance coaching (JEE, NEET, CUET, CET, etc.)
  • College admission support
  • Scholarship/sponsorship awareness and access
  • Facilitate sessions and collaborations that help students secure scholarships, financial aid, and college admissions, including required documentation.
4. Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track alumni engagement metrics, mentorship outcomes, and academic progress.
  • Create quarterly and annual reports to assess the effectiveness of the alumni engagement strategy.
  • Document impact stories, best practices, and case studies for internal use and donor reporting.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Minimum 4-6 years of experience in the development/education sector, preferably in alumni engagement, career counseling, or partnerships.
Language: Strong communication skillsfluent in English and Hindi, both spoken and written.
Collaboration: Proven ability to build and manage strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
Technical: Comfort with digital tools, data management, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working with alumni or school-based mentoring programs.
  • Experience with or exposure to coaching institutions, scholarship providers, or education-focused NGOs.
  • Familiarity with entrance exams (JEE, NEET, CUET, etc.) and India's higher education system.
