Location: ANNAM.AI, Center of Excellence in AI for Agriculture, IIT RoparType: Full-Time | Contractual | Renewable based on performanceCompensation: As per industry standardsTenure: Initial appointment for 2 years, extendable up to 5 years depending on the project.
Role Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled Machine Learning Engineers to join our team. In this role, you will work on developing and deploying AI/ML models that power intelligent agricultural systems. You will contribute directly to solving real-world agricultural challenges using data-driven methods and play a key role in applying technology for social impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement machine learning models for various agricultural applications (e.g., crop classification, yield prediction, disease detection, advisory generation).
Work with large datasets from diverse sources such as satellite imagery, drone footage, and sensor data.
Build and maintain robust data pipelines for model training and inference.
Collaborate closely with agronomists, software engineers, and researchers to address field-level challenges using ML solutions
Optimize model performance and ensure scalability for real-world deployment.
Develop robust pipelines to pre-train, fine-tune and align, and evaluate LLMs and other Foundation models.
Document findings, prepare reports, and present technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
B.Tech/M.Tech/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related field.
Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow,, and scikit-learn.
Good understanding of data preprocessing, model evaluation, and validation techniques.
Experience with tools such as Jupyter, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for applying AI for social good.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to LLMs, NLP, computer vision, remote sensing, or geospatial data.
Prior experience in building or adapting Foundation Models in text, speech or Geo AI or multi-modal / multi-lingual models.
Experience working with agricultural or environmental datasets.
Familiarity with model deployment tools and frameworks such as Docker, Flask, or FastAPI.
