The MAP AI Fellowship, supported by Capria Ventures, enables young artists, technologists, and creative researchers to explore new modes of expression using generative and interpretive AI. This is a hands-on role to prototype, question, and build -- to transform the relationship between algorithm and imagination.
Who We're Looking For
-------------------------
Individuals who are deeply interested in the creative and cultural dimensions of artificial intelligence.
Motivated by independent research, can navigate ambiguity with maturity, and aspire to contribute meaningfully to India's growing dialogue on AI and cultural production.
Ideal candidates are those who can work confidently at the intersection of art, engineering, design, and social inquiry, and who demonstrate a strong capacity for thoughtful experimentation.
Responsibilities
--------------------
1) Creative Exploration & Production
Conceptualise and develop original work using generative and interpretive AI tools.
Produce one major final output (film, installation, performance, interactive experience, etc.) for public exhibition. (Optional)
2) Research & Discourse
Explore contemporary debates around AI, including authorship, rights, cultural memory, and labour.
Document experiments and thinking through essays, process notes, and talks.
3) Public Engagement
Present work through screenings, workshops, or exhibitions.
Collaborate with MAP's interpretive/education teams to design experiences for the public.
4) Ecosystem Collaboration
Engage with technologists, founders, researchers, and artists.
Participate in conversations that connect India's tech landscape with creative communities.
Qualifications
------------------
Background in art, design, creative technology, animation, filmmaking, computer science, machine learning, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualise and execute original creative or technical projects.
Strong interest in generative AI, visual culture, and emerging media.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and drive projects with minimal oversight.
This is a highly interdisciplinary fellowship. We welcome applicants from diverse creative and technical backgrounds. Formal training in AI is not mandatory if you have strong experimental instincts.
What You'll Gain
--------------------
A funded opportunity to explore AI as a creative medium.
Access to Capria's in-house AI team + MAP's curators.
Guidance from domain experts in art, film, and applied AI.
Opportunity to showcase your work through a public exhibition.
A platform to contribute to India's emerging AI-art discourse.
